«Within two months Bancali will have a director and a full commander». This was assured by the Undersecretary of Justice Andrea Delmastro who visited the Sassari prison for over three and a half hours this morning.

«I won the challenge of appointing a director, by 2023, for every institute in Italy. Sassari, Nuoro and Reggio Calabria, however, need experienced figures who will arrive shortly." Delmastro focused on the critical issues of the structure: «The lack of staff and overcrowding. But with the financial law we have made a thousand extra hires which have an impact on the workforce."

The undersecretary lists the measures to employ new officers within prisons and reports: «Never in the last 20 years has such an investment in new forces for the penitentiary police been made. We have released 250 million euros for prison construction in order to recover 7,300 prison places."

Delmastro underlines the quality of the relationship with the unions whose indications he always takes into account. “They can no longer be children of a lesser god,” he says. The visit of the Fratelli d'Italia representative did not concern the 41 bis department. «I meet men and women from the prison police - he reports - and this is also a sign. I don't go out filling my lungs with do-goodism saying let's not touch Cain, because I know it. But the time has come to say no one touches Abel. And Abel are the men and women of the penitentiary police who, in recent years, have suffered everything."
