Ula Tirso Post Office Heist: Man Caught Thanks to Footage of Another Robbery
The Carabinieri traced a man from Ghilarza through the videos of three bandits in action in Ollastra: one had the same movements as himArrested because he was identified as the perpetrator of another robbery. This morning, Carabinieri officers from the Oristano Provincial Command served a precautionary measure in Ghilarza —an order requiring him to remain in his home—against the alleged perpetrator of the robbery at the Ula Tirso post office on June 5, 2024.
The criminal had acted on the day of the Carabinieri celebration: he had burst in with his face covered and, under the threat of a gun, had made the employee hand over 10,000 euros and her cell phone, before fleeing.
On December 11 of the previous year, however, three robbers had robbed the Ollastra post office. They had been identified the following July thanks to video surveillance footage. And those videos allowed them to establish that one of the arrested individuals had movements and postures completely compatible and "superimposable" with those of the Ula Tirso robber.
Furthermore, the trousers seized from him during his arrest were identical in type, brand, and color to those of the suspect in Ghilarza. Furthermore , forensic analysis of the cell phone seized at the time provided crucial evidence of his involvement in the robbery in the small town of Barigadu. Further investigations are underway to identify any possible accomplices.
