Tyrrhenian Link, the time has come for "verification and "cleaning"
of the laying route”»,
preliminary activities for the construction of Terna's submarine cable, for a total cost of 1.9 billion euros, which will connect Sardinia to Sicily: a gigantic infrastructure that will also serve to connect the electrical system of the island dotted with blades and panels with that of the Peninsula.

The Coast Guard has issued an order, valid from August 12th to November 30th, closing the stretch of sea off Terra Mala, off the coast of Quartu, the cable's Sardinian landing point.

The order states that the request was submitted by Poliservizi, "an agency delegated by Acsm, the company responsible for the work on the 'Tyrrhenian Link' project, on behalf of Terna Rete Italia 'Prysmian'." It explains that during the ban period, "mattresses may also be laid in the corridor affected by the subsequent construction of the HDVC link."

Two ships, the Artabro and the Nautilus, will be operating in the area. When they appear, the following will be prohibited:

  • navigate, anchor and moor with any vessel, whether for pleasure or professional use;
  • carry out scuba diving activities;
  • carry out fishing activities;
  • any activity connected to the use of the sea not expressly authorised.
