The objectives are the "enhancement and tourist, commercial and territorial promotion" of the city. And "the Christmas period and the New Year are an important moment for the implementation of events capable of representing a moment of promotion of the territory". For this reason , the Municipality of Cagliari has decided to spend 194,996.80 euros (in addition to VAT, compared to a budget of 214,000) for the installation of lights in the commercial streets of the capital.

The contract for assembly and management, which will begin in the next few days, was awarded to the company that presented the best offer: it is Pnc Gruppo Cesarano Srl of Nocera Inferiore, which has already served the city.

A huge investment, but the Department of Tourism and Productive Activities, which managed the tender, know that times are lean. Thus in the decision awarding the works, it is specified that "the particular climate of economic difficulty due to the ongoing war situation and international tension has been taken into account, which, by progressively requiring national governments to adopt energy restriction measures, can also have repercussions on the possibility of using public lighting, including Christmas lights".

Therefore "the installations, while maintaining the usual extension, will have to use low-consumption light sources (LEDs) and the definitive
setting up, the switching on of the lighting, the activation times of the lights will be subject to any energy restriction measures on the use of public lighting".
