Truck loaded with wood on fire on the 131: kilometre-long queues

Very scary, but fortunately limited damage, due to the start of a fire that broke out at 11.30 on a truck loaded with wood, on state road 131, near Nuraminis.

The fire broke out in the rear part of the trailer of a Man truck, owned by a company based in Mogoro: Vinco Trasporti. The vehicle, which was traveling north on the two-lane carriageway of the 131 which was undergoing modernization work and reopened in early March, was affected by the start of a fire in the rear part of the trailer.

The reaction of the driver was prompt and, with great self-control, he stopped the heavy vehicle, detached the trailer and made the tractor safe just at the moment in which some tires burst due to the strong heat. The fire was put out by two teams of the Fire Brigade from the Cagliari Command.

The Sanluri Traffic Police and the Anas teams were also on site. On the state road, affected by the modernization construction site, traffic was blocked, with a long queue of vehicles that stretched beyond Monastir.
