Trapped in a cave in Cala Gonone, four Uruguayan tourists are in fear.
It was just after 3:00 PM yesterday, Wednesday, May 6th, when 112 received a call reporting four tourists stranded in the "Oddoana" cave. They had taken the path connecting Cala Luna to Cala Fuili, but were unable to exit the cave due to a stream blocking their passage.
The situation was further complicated by bad weather, which forced the Fire Brigade's Drago 143 helicopter, sent to the scene, to return to base.
A team of firefighters then took over the search on land, while the Speleological Diving Unit based in Cagliari was activated.
The four hikers were later located along the trail; they had managed to escape from the cave, which later turned out to be a natural basin used as a shelter from the rain. The four were taken by sea to the port of Cala Gonone on a privately provided boat and a Coast Guard patrol boat.
