There are 157 electric buses arriving on the streets of Cagliari by 2026 . A fleet of vehicles that is renewed thanks to a Pnnr loan of 108 million euros and with the aim, as indicated this morning at a press conference by the mayor of Cagliari Paolo Truzzu, of reaching 80% of electric vehicles within three years .

"An extra offer for the residents of Cagliari and nearby towns - the mayor underlined - but also for tourists".

For the traffic commissioner Alessio Mereu it is "an authentic revolution".

The first "tranche" of vehicles is expected by the autumn of 2024: seven 6.6-metre battery-electric buses, twelve 9.5-metre buses and 40 10.7-metre buses. Reinforcements will then arrive by 30 June 2026: 80 battery electric vehicles of 12 meters and another eighteen of 18 meters.

The president of the Ctm Carlo Arba assured that it will be a real energy transition with the vehicles that will have a single livery with internal and external cameras to guarantee maximum safety. "A transition - Arba specified - that has already started some time ago".

The current fleet consists of 32 trolleybuses, 11 buses with 6 electric vehicles (8 with pantograph) and 5 full hybrid 18-metre vehicles for a total of 48 electric vehicles.
