Easter is upon us and Sardinia deploys its resources to face the upcoming "long" weekend, with Easter Monday in the queue. But the forces on the scale may not be enough. " We are looking for 3,000 employees for the upcoming season ", confesses the president of Fipe Confcommercio Sud Sardegna Emanuele Frongia , present at the conference " Work and Talent: analysis and perspectives ", organized today at the Mem in Cagliari . «The situation is improving , already last year the situation was much more uphill: the forces missing were 2,000 more, so the trend doesn't worry us. The work is there, the restaurants are filling up and we are managing to leave behind the Covid period where our sector has stopped. We are counting on finding 20% of the missing forces in the short term ».

The tourism and catering sector would also suffer from the lack of highly specialized figures , who can satisfy the demands of a market in continuous development and evolution : «These cover about 15% of the missing people . For us it is a critical point, in the very short term we must necessarily look outside the national territory . And we would like to avoid this ». And the alarm is sounding especially for the recruitment of specialized pastry chefs and chefs , who can offer services - today in great demand - which align with the "change of appearance " of Sardinia which is transforming itself from a "passing" stop for cruise passengers and tourists to a main destination . And languages thus become fundamental: English is no longer enough , the required skills are close to the 4 languages, especially in the hospitality sector.

«We would also like to dispel the myth that catering is the real sinner of this job search - continues Frongia -, in reality almost all sectors are in difficulty : from agriculture to industry up to law firms, looking for some trainee . We can do a lot but politics must also intervene here, the government has weapons. Job Day is not enough, we must do more».

And even on the national front, the public establishments sector is experiencing - despite everything - a great relaunch. " We are looking for 140,000 professional profiles who will enter the sector in the coming months ," explains Andrea Chiriati, labor manager and trade union relations area FIPE Confcommercio . To complicate the situation would be added the problem of guidance because « young people and the unemployed often don't know the opportunities available , this is because our job market doesn't put those seeking in contact with those who offer. The active services are completely inefficient, the system doesn't work», continues Chiriati.

Greater attention should also be paid to training courses , which should be strengthened because «the fault of young people's inexperience cannot fall solely on schools and vocational institutes. We can't point the finger at someone, everyone is responsible. We must focus on active and not only passive policies, representative associations and private agencies should be involved where public bodies and employment centers are unable to solve the problem», concludes Chiriati.
