Massimo Cannas is now the former mayor of Tortolì. The community has been without administrative guidance since 1.23 pm today, when the notary Gianluigi Cornaglia deposited the proxies signed by the nine outgoing councilors. Including that of Irene Murru, the opposition councilor who is in Germany for a few days. He signed the proxy in a German notary's office which then sent it to his colleague from Tortolì.

When the professional entered the Municipality by heading to the Protocol office, the first meeting of the new Giunta was in progress. Which was born and died within 24 hours . If it's not a record, we're close. The mayor could not help but take note of it. «I take note of what happened - he said - but I did not imagine this type of solution . I accept it, it is part of the rules of democracy. I hope that whoever arrives after me can always work seriously in the interest of the community».

In the late afternoon of today the four majority dissidents - Walter Cattari, Lara Depau, Carlo Marcia and Bonaria Murreli - explained to the population the reasons that animated their decision, accusing Cannas of having been too central . "We have decided to take this decision as a gesture of disapproval of the current management of Mayor Cannas, which in our opinion does not adequately protect the community and no longer represents the intentions of the pact virtually signed with the citizens in 2019".

Specifically, the four highlighted how "the mayor has excessively concentrated many powers on himself, such as the presidency of the municipal council, representation at the industrial consortium, at the Union of Municipalities of Northern Ogliastra, putting into practice a concept of collegiality which is very personal and unshared". To compensate for the revocation of the councilorship assignments, Cannas had entrusted specific powers to Cattari (Urban Planning), Depau (Sport and Union of Municipalities) and Marcia (Industrial Consortium). But it wasn't enough to distract them from their intent together with Murreli. «These positions were only today made available to the "excluded", as compensation for a serious act of distrust and not the result of electoral agreements as he declared. A year and a half after the end of the mandate, the municipal offices are in an unprecedented state of organizational discomfort, again due to the "modus operandi" of the mayor who, until now, has preferred to stall rather than unblock paperwork and appointments. We have repeatedly pointed out how much of a priority the reorganization of the finance/budget, general affairs and environmental offices was, in addition to the start-up of already financed building sites, and the continuity of assistance to disadvantaged groups and the school system (just to mention the urgent emergencies), constantly subject to second thoughts and unjustified postponements. The mayor has left our requests unheeded for too long, allowing too many crucial acts for the correct administration of the city to lie on his table waiting for "better times"», declare former councilors.

In this context, the four dissidents have decided to resign together with the minority councilors (Marcello Ladu, Mimmo Lerede, Severina Mascia, Irene Murru and Vincenzo Nieddu) and to distrust Cannas because they no longer share «his leadership» and are no longer willing to "work with him". Finally, they underlined their willingness to continue serving the community, but believing that this is not possible under the leadership of the current mayor, they highlighted the need to go to new elections.

Mimmo Lerede intervened for the opposition who, in November 2013, suffered the same fate today befell Cannas, who in the event was one of the dissidents who contributed to the fall of the anesthetist mayor. « Cannas has demonstrated total administrative incapacity. In these nine years it has proved to be inconclusive in all respects, blocking any type of initiative . Tortolì is languishing and luckily some of his majority colleagues have had a recovery of pride as well as a sense of belonging to put an end to an agony to which, unfortunately, Tortolì has been brought".

The institution is now awaiting the appointment of an extraordinary commissioner, who will remain in office until the next municipal elections, scheduled for spring, in the window between 15 April and 15 June. He will be appointed by the regional councilorship of local authorities.
