It is no coincidence that Casa Betania was inaugurated on the "World Day of the Poor", a temporary reception service for homeless people in the spaces of Caritas, in viale Monsignor Virgilio.

A sign of concreteness towards those in need in these hard times marked by continuous emergencies. Gestures, words, attentions, hospitality are the words that have been repeatedly pronounced by the Bishop of Lanusei and Nuoro Antonello Mura.

On a day with a warm mid-November sun, another important piece of the great social project of the Ogliastra diocese was established. A stone's throw from the solidarity canteen and all the services offered by Caritas: counseling center and psychology and legal advice, clothing, the recently inaugurated auditorium and the oratory nearing completion.

With the bishop this morning the director of Caritas don Giorgio Cabras, there was no lack of civil and military authorities, faithful, volunteers and citizens.

Casa Betania is a beautiful white structure, just like the entire “citadel” is white. Surrounded by a green garden, olive trees, the reproduction of the work Frame by the artist Maria Lai. Equipped with bedrooms with bathroom, a large common area with kitchen room, it will be able to accommodate 15 people of age, homeless, who live in a condition of marginality: they are without a home or are waiting to recover a stable housing solution. A condition that does not concern only foreigners, but also citizens of Ogliastra.
