"We are not the Cayenne of Italy. We don't want to be the island dump for Article 41bis . We want to be an island that takes responsibility but also takes a different path with respect to the prison issue."

Alessandra Todde stated this after Minister Nordio confirmed the plan to transfer prisoners under the 41 bis regime to the island . The governor emphasized that this is the position not only of the Region, but also of "parliamentarians, local authorities, and mayors." And if that's not enough, "we will use all available means to oppose this discriminatory decision."

Sardinia "is not the minister's personal prison," Todde attacks, calling for a change in the law that views islands as privileged areas for mafia bosses. "On the one hand, we have the insularity provision in the Constitution, which says we should be advantaged by being an island, and on the other, we have a 2009 law that says, since island areas should be, so to speak, privileged for this type of passage, we have this kind of discrimination ."

"After the resignation of Undersecretary Delmastro, after the entire Sardinian political community has expressed its strong opposition to the operation that would transform Sardinia into Italy's Cayenne, after thousands of people took to the streets of Cagliari to demonstrate their opposition, after the worrying public reports from magistrates and professionals, after the words of the regional prison ombudsman, unions, trade associations, and civil society, after several parliamentary questions, despite the complaints about delays and errors in the work at Badu' and Carros, Uta, and Bancali, we are astonished to learn of Nordio's determination to continue in the wrong direction, continuing to ignore the involvement of local institutions."

On April 27 , the president will visit the Badu 'e Carros prison : "There are two points I want to emphasize. The costs, who is paying for the work being done and what stage we are at, and above all, security . Badu 'e Carros is a context that has already shown vulnerability and it is a prison within the city. So there is also a security issue to which we want answers."
