Nine years' imprisonment for exploitation of prostitution and illegal immigration . The sentence was imposed yesterday in court in Sassari against two Nigerians, a 43-year-old and a 39-year-old .

According to the accusations , they favored the immigration of at least seven compatriots into Italian territory between March and September 2016 .

Some women, offended parties in the trial , were then sent into prostitution which the accused would manage by providing the apartment for sexual services and collecting the proceeds.

For the accused, the panel, chaired by Giancosimo Mura, alongside Monia Adami and Sara Pelicci, also ordered the payment of 92 thousand euros in fines and expulsion from Italian soil. The non-EU citizens, defended by the lawyer Salvatore Masia, were however acquitted of the most serious crime, that of being part of a transnational criminal association.

The third defendant, a 36-year-old Nigerian, defended by the lawyer Carlo Pinna Parpaglia, was completely acquitted of the charges. The man was described by prosecutor Lara Senatore as a collaborator whose main activity consisted of getting his sister and wife to arrive.
