The wind hits Sardinia: damage and fires
From north to south, the island is battered by bad weather. Damage also in CagliariExtensive damage due to strong winds and two large fires fueled by the gusts.
Sardinia is also hit by bad weather: many interventions by the firefighters since yesterday evening and continued throughout the night, together with civil protection and volunteers.
A large fire broke out in Capoterra , in the Poggio dei Pini area: vegetation and brushwood were on fire with the fire approaching homes and the countryside. It seems some animals have died. The intervention of firefighters and volunteers continued for several hours.
Flames also in Ogliastra.
In northern Sardinia there were heavy rains while in the south the wind did a lot of damage: in Cagliari large branches and some trees fell as well as billboards and electricity poles and traffic lights at risk of collapsing.
There are also numerous problems in the other southern municipalities of the island. The situation then improved as the hours passed.
