The start of the first of two final hearings, scheduled for today and tomorrow, in the first-instance trial in the Tempio Pausania court against Ciro Grillo, son of Beppe, and Francesco Corsiglia, Edoardo Capitta, and Vittorio Lauria, accused of gang rape, has been postponed until after noon. Sentencing is expected tomorrow, perhaps this evening .

Public Prosecutor Gregorio Capasso will speak immediately today for his replies, followed by lawyer Giulia Bongiorno, representing the Italian-Norwegian student , 19 at the time, who is the main accuser of the four. "Replies will be made extremely quickly because they only serve to refute the opposing party's arguments. I believe we are now in the final hours of this long trial. I don't know if my client will come to court, but I'll hear her now and we'll see," Bongiorno commented outside the courthouse.

The trial began three years ago— the first technical hearing was on March 16, 2022 —with mostly closed-door hearings, except for the final ones. Should the girl be present for the reading of the sentence, it too will be held behind closed doors. This brings the case to a close six years after the alleged events: it was the night between July 16 and 17, 2019, when the gang rape allegedly took place in the villa owned by the Grillo family in Porto Cervo, involving an Italian-Norwegian student, then 19, and a friend of hers the same age.
