The mayor of Sorso, Fabrizio Demelas, considering the grave mourning that overwhelmed the community yesterday, December 19, due to the accident that caused the death of Maria Loi, the 72-year-old woman hit by a garbage truck , has proclaimed a day of mourning.

"Considering that the municipal administration believes it must interpret, on behalf of the entire municipal council, the staff of the Authority and the entire community of Sorso, the deep feeling of pain and emotion that has struck it - we read in the ordinance issued this morning - and therefore believing it must manifest in a tangible and solemn way its condolences towards the victim's family, proclaims a day of mourning for the city, starting from today, Friday 20 December 2024, and until the conclusion of the funeral ceremony".

For the same period of time, the mayor has ordered the suspension of all public entertainment events and, for the entire day of the funeral, the display of flags at half-mast in municipal buildings.

Demelas also invited all fellow citizens, business owners, political, social and productive organizations and cultural and sports associations to express their participation in the mourning by suspending their activities during the celebration of the funeral ceremony on the day of the funeral.
