Massimo Lodde, the 44-year-old man from Thiesi who, yesterday at dawn, barricaded himself in the offices of the family business in the locality of “Sa Falada Manna” in Cheremule probably died of smoke poisoning. Accidental death or extreme gesture? These are the questions investigated by the carabinieri of the local station company.

From the first investigations, the 44-year-old would have died of asphyxiation inside the premises, where he was found lying on the ground lifeless. According to an initial reconstruction, yesterday morning around 6 am he would have gone to the countryside of Cheremule and, after having set the fire in the external shed, he would have taken refuge in the internal rooms where he would have begun to breathe fumes, fainting until death. When the firefighters arrived, doors and windows were barred by furniture and desks inside the offices.

On the spot the Thiesi carabinieri, who carried out the surveys, recovering a mobile phone, from which useful elements could emerge for the investigations entrusted to the Cheremule soldiers. On the body of Massimo Lodde, at the disposal of the Sassari Public Prosecutor's Office, an autopsy was arranged to dispel any doubts about the causes of death.
