Yesterday's tragic accident in Solanas – which cost the lives of two people and also left twelve injured – has reignited the debate over the dangers of the 125 Var , a road that during the summer is crowded, especially at weekends, with residents of Cagliari and tourists heading to the beaches on the island's eastern coast.

Less than a year ago, Francesco Pintus, a soldier from Meana Sardo, lost his life in a horrific crash near Geremeas. In 2022, there were two accidents at the exit of the Arcu Sa Porta tunnel: a four-car collision and a head-on collision with three serious injuries.

«Unfortunately, the 125 Var is a two-lane road and not a four-lane one, like the 554», says the mayor of Sinnai, Barbara Pusceddu , «it clearly becomes a fast-flowing road and the danger increases further near the tunnels».
