« My brother, in the last half hour of his life, after being pierced, for no reason, by a being he had never seen and had never had anything to do with, suffered greatly, he was conscious, and felt that life was abandoning him ».

The outburst is by Sara Mameli, sister of Luca , the 35-year-old from Capoterra killed in August 2023 at the height of an argument over trivial reasons at Poetto di Quartu. Alessio Desogus, now 23 years old, ended up in prison immediately for that crime, and the first-degree trial is in its final stages. For the young man, the prosecutor has requested a 21-year sentence .

In a long post on Facebook, Sara Mameli condemns the defense's attempts to "minimize" the incident. The defendant, in fact, claims to have hit the victim by mistake. "Someone with an attempted murder on his shoulders," the woman emphasizes, " killed my brother saying that there was chaos, confusion, and it happened ." And yet, Sara highlights, " he had the knife visible in his hand and for no reason he struck to death, with such force that he fractured the chest and planted the blade in the heart and then left, without helping, continuing the evening in the hotel ."

She wonders what her brother was thinking in that half hour of agony. "I imagine he was thinking about how to get out of that situation. About mom, about us, about his nephews. Luca wanted to live! He had gone out to spend a cheerful evening with friends, he never hurt anyone." Based on all this , "what mitigating circumstances do they want to look for?" Sara wonders .

Finally, Luca Mameli's sister lashes out against the embrace between mother and son in court . "A lack of respect for us. Do it when you go to visit him in prison, there was no need to do it in front of us who are mourning Luca. My mother does not have this privilege, because there is no escape from death. She can only look at Luca's photo and can bring him flowers to the cemetery, she cannot talk to him, she cannot hug him ."

“I have faith in justice,” concludes Sara.
