No decline for tourism in Sardinia. On the contrary. The regional councilors for Transport, Antonio Moro, and their colleague in Tourism, Gianni Chessa, are certain of the numbers in hand: «Passengers in Sardinian ports and airports are record-breaking, as are arrivals on the island».

The numbers, «even before the words», explain the two exponents of the executive led by President Solinas, «certify that in the ports and airports of Sardinia, traffic exceeds not only that of 2022 but also that of the pre-covid season of 2019 ».

From 1 to 30 July 2023 in the ports of Cagliari, Olbia, Golfo Aranci and Porto Torres the total passengers were 1,098,087, in 2022 they were 961,560, in 2019 they were 953,187. From January to July 2023, there were 1,446,630 arrivals in the 4 Sardinian ports alone, against 1,345,431 in the same period in 2022 and 1,346,729 in 2019.

In July of this year, 38,006 passengers were registered in the port of Cagliari with 20,107 arrivals. In 2022, the passenger total was 30,970 with 16,563 arrivals.

In the port of Olbia, in the month just ended, passengers were 756,156, with 411,581 arrivals. In 2022 there were 674,701 with 370,484 arrivals.

In Golfo Aranci the total passengers in July were 105,634 with 58,594 arrivals, while in the same period in Porto Torres the passengers were 198,282 with 113,001 arrivals. These last two airports recorded a slight decrease compared to July 2022, by 30,000 and 40,000 passengers respectively, a decrease largely offset by the increase in traffic on the Olbia and Cagliari docks, as demonstrated by the total number of transits (1,098,087 against 961,560 of July 2022).

The numbers for July 2023, reads a note from the Region, «confirm the growth already highlighted by the June data in the four Sardinian port calls, which recorded an increase in arrivals compared to the same period in 2022 and 2019: 671,477 landings against 569,224 of 2022 and 616,911 of June 2019".

In the three Sardinian airports, the total traffic from January to July 2023 was 5,263,147. In the same period of 2022, it stopped at 4,822,850 and in 2019 at 4,941,211.

In July 2023, the airports of Cagliari, Alghero and Olbia recorded passenger traffic of 1,534,813, against 1,471,027 in July 2022 and 1,394,654 in 2019

At Cagliari airport in July 2023 traffic was 614,674, in 2022 it stopped at 582,497 and in 2019 at 586,762.

There were 704,139 passengers at Olbia airport in July 2023, 672,530 in 2022 and 603,892 in 2019.

At the Alghero Fertilia airport, 216,000 passengers were reached in the month that has just ended, the same value as in 2022, while in 2019 they were 204,000. «Overall», add Moro and Chessa, «only arrivals at the 3 airports and 4 ports of Sardinia, in the period January-July 2023 were 4,123,447 against 3,812,118 in the same period 2022 and 3,880,087 in January-July 2019».
