The "school-tent" is born in Cagliari: an unusable building, involving about 200 children
The work in the via Stockholm primary school has not yet been completed, and the structure remains off-limits: lessons under tents underwayThe assembly work on the tensile structures began this morning, which will have to accommodate around 200 children ready to return to school from next Monday.
It happens in Cagliari in the primary school in via Stockholm , where the renovation work on the school building has not yet been completed. And where the building therefore still remains off-limits for safety reasons .
It all happened suddenly: until 5pm yesterday no official communication had been given to the school or to the families. Then came a pec from the Municipality announcing the possibility of setting up the tensile structures and the school board, meeting urgently, decided on that solution when it was already time for dinner, refusing another transfer (after the one a year ago in Selargius). Chaos and uncertainty, therefore: late in the evening many families were still in the dark and the communication on the school website only appeared after 21.30.
There are ten camp tents that will host , at least until the end of 2023, the lessons of primary school children, «structures designed – assures the deputy mayor Angius – to deal with emergency situations, but equipped with all the required comforts», air conditioning systems , fire prevention, etc., "for the conduct of teaching".
The administration had also suggested using containers but they cost too much and would not arrive for two months.
A solution found in extremis, therefore, to save the start of the school year, but the families' doubts are now linked to the times : the parents hoped that the new jobs in via Stockholm would finish in the autumn, instead «the deadline is February 16, 2024», explains Gabriella Deidda, councilor for public works. «It being understood, however, that everyone's commitment is to give priority to the work necessary to return as soon as possible», probably at the end of December, «the classrooms, the gym and the canteen, reserving the works to be carried out at the 'outside,' he adds.
