It's called the "pink code room". The space, open in the premises of the emergency room of the Santissima Annunziata of Sassari, is dedicated to the victims of gender-based violence, who are assisted, welcomed, supported and treated.

At the same time, additional new open spaces were also activated in the city emergency room.

The pink code room has a size of approximately 20 square meters, has a bed and an armchair for gynecological examinations and then a computer station for healthcare personnel.

In front of the open space opened in February with nine beds, a new open space has been created with five workstations dedicated to highly complex patients undergoing stabilization and monitoring.

«The work done is important - comments the mayor of Sassari Nanni Campus - because it makes the structure more functional and safer, both for patients and operators. As mayor of a city that hosts the Aurora center for women victims of violence, the pink room completes this circle».

«Today we want to communicate the path that the Company is pursuing - says the general manager of the Aou of Sassari Antonio Lorenzo Spano -, we want to let the citizen know what is being done for his health. We have therefore activated areas and these services also for the relatives of the patients, because we understood, especially after the pandemic period, that more effective external communication was needed".

The new spaces, adds the director of the facility Paolo Pinna Parpaglia, "allow us to stay in line with the recent provisions on patient management in the emergency room, with the reorganization of triage and management times".

New works are also planned: a waiting area for the carers and relatives of patients in the emergency room. There will also be a 24-hour service, with staff supporting family members to provide non-health information in real time on the relative's care pathway in the emergency room (on 079 2646219).
