Sardinia lashed by bad weather and strong mistral.

Yesterday evening around 10pm, the firefighters worked in via Toscanini in Serdiana , near the sports field, to secure the area after a tree fell uprooted by violent gusts of wind that nearly reached 60 kilometers per hour.

Luckily no one was passing at that moment and there are no injuries. Other interventions during the night in Villasimius for the safety of a canopy on a private structure and on the state road 195 due to the fall of other trees. In the Sassari area , due to the risk caused by collapsed shrubs, operators worked on provincial road 48 in Lu Padru and on state road 200 at km 17.

In La Maddalena , several interventions were carried out during the night due to unsafe gutters, fallen poles and illuminated signs.

In Olbia, in via Pisa, a piece of cantilevered cornice collapsed , with three cars damaged by the boulders that flew to the ground from about ten meters away: the street was closed and the fire brigade team took steps to secure the 'area.

In Sassari , the fall of rubble from a building in via Fossati hit a parked car, while a tree fell in via Luna e sole, in front of the church.

The sea storms have caused inconvenience and delays : the Santa Teresa-Bonifacio section remains suspended all day due to adverse weather conditions, the Porto Torres-Olbia section is also blocked. Yesterday the Sharden, the ferry of the Tirrenia company coming from the port of Genoa and bound for the western pier of Porto Torres, was diverted as a precaution to the port of Olbia , where it docked in the late afternoon.

The first Atlantic perturbation of 2023 is bringing severe bad weather with lots of rain and stormy winds not only in Sardinia but also throughout the country. Temperatures, after a widespread night-time drop, will rise again, returning above the average for the period. There will be rain in the next few hours but, the www.iLMeteo.it website guarantees, the wave will pass quickly , leaving the country and reaching Greece.

With the expansion of the Azores Anticyclone over Western Europe, the sun will return and for at least another 10 days no outbreaks of cold polar air are expected .
