The students of the Porcu-Satta middle school in Quartu will tell the medieval history of the island and the Molentargius park in Sardinian to the students of an institute in San Vigilio di Marebbe, in the province of Bolzano.

The project, called "Sa lingua in Quartu", was born from a collaboration between the Quartese school and the municipal branch of the library of linguistic minorities. An initiative that involves the study of the Molentargius oasis and a South Tyrolean naturalistic area, with the aim of creating a bridge between the two cultures and sharing their respective traditions.

Over the course of six months, one school will host the other, starting from the visit of eighteen South Tyrolean children and their teachers to Sardinia in September and the trip of the 1C, 1F, 2C, 2E and 2F classes of Porcu-Satta to San Vigilio di Marebbe , in March 2025.

The councilor for public education, Cinzia Carta, enthusiastically commented on the program: «I learned with great satisfaction the willingness of the Quartese school to accept my invitation to work in synergy with the municipal office and thus make its own contribution to the valorisation of the Sardinian language". And he adds: «The Porcu-Satta school loves twinning with other Italian municipalities, it is a commendable cultural exchange».

The Sardinian language desk is open in the linguistic minority library of the former Capuchin Convent in via Brigata Sassari and is available to citizens, schools and associations. You can contact us by writing to the email address ufitziusardu24@gmail.com.
