The hunting season opens in Sardinia from Sunday 19 September.

The Region recalls the latest news, in a note, which reads: "It will be possible to collect all the species foreseen by the hunting calendar approved by the Regional Fauna Committee, chaired by the regional councilor for the environment Gianni Lampis".

However, there will be restrictions: "The pochard and lapwing species are excluded from the list of huntable species due to the recent ruling of the Sardinian Tar".

The reference is to the ruling of the Administrative Court, urged by numerous animal welfare associations, which confirmed the suspension of the hunting of wild turtledove (Streptopelia turtur), already ordered by presidential decree at the beginning of September, extending the suspension of the hunting season for Pochard (Aythya ferina) and Lapwing (Vanellus vanellus). Still from the Tar, however, the shortening of a few weeks of hunting for Woodcock (Scolopax rusticola) was not granted as a precautionary measure.

"The hunting of noble sedentary game, or partridge and hare - concludes the note from the Region - will open on 10 October".
