The CGIL takes a position on the possible privatization of the "Mameli" airport in Elmas. And he attacks: «We consider the stalemate with which yesterday the work of the Regional Council met to discuss the privatization of the Cagliari-Elmas airport was worrying , with the majority that was unable to find an agreement on an issue that it should instead unite everyone on the only viable road».

These are words dictated by anger, those of Simona Fanzecco, secretary of the Metropolitan Labor Chamber of the CGIL of Cagliari. And from the fear that the story of the Cagliari airport, with the controversies following the alleged transfer to a fund, could degenerate into chaos, already caused by a lame territorial continuity.

Fanzecco underlines the union's position of stark contrast to the sale of assets from the beginning and, recalling the initial silence of the Region and then finally the position taken in recent days, hopes "that we will move forward unitedly, institutions, business associations and trade unions, against an operation that he considers contrary to the interests of the community , potentially harmful to the right to mobility and territorial continuity, harmful to the future of the economic and tourist system not only in the metropolitan area but throughout the South and the island". .
In detail: «We're talking about a port of call built and upgraded with public funds, with a positive balance sheet and substantial growth margins», explained Simona Fanzecco, adding that «there are all the elements why privatization cannot even be hypothesized and instead, thanks to the Chamber of Commerce, we find ourselves in the worrying situation of opposing a sale that would make the public share marginal and create a dangerous monopoly over the Sardinian skies".
The secretary, who welcomed ENAC's position, reiterated that " the infrastructure must remain public and there is no reason that can justify the sale of the assets, even with a public announcement ". The union recalls that the airport is strategic and public control indispensable, not only for the strong opportunities for social, economic and tourist development but also for the Sardinian right to mobility itself which certainly cannot be subordinated to the wishes of companies and companies airlines with interests very different from those of the community. So a wish: "We will go ahead with a position in stark contrast to privatization, safeguarding the rights of Sardinians and guaranteeing the constant growth of the Cagliari-Elmas airport system, whose numbers are already significant and certainly susceptible to further increases, provided that avoid any possible sale".
