Two months of searching before returning to her owners' arms. B àstet, the cat lost on June 23rd on the ship from Genoa to Porto Torres , has finally returned home .
Franco and Giovanna , the owners of the cat, a gray European feline, had never given up hope . For several years, they had been traveling from northern Italy to Aglientu, Sardinia, where they spent their holidays. Throughout the time, they had been making appeals, describing the cat's characteristics in detail.
She had disappeared while boarding the Moby Ale Due, escaping from her carrier while they were in the ferry's garage . Having reached the port of Porto Torres without any results from their search, Franco and Giovanna had contacted the animal rights association Anime Feline with its volunteers Emanuela, Cinzia, and Luisa, an organization that has been working in Porto Torres for several years.
" We had set up traps all over the ship, hoping to intercept her ," explains Emanuela Fanari of Anime Feline. "Some people reported seeing the cat coming down the ferry ramp." The search never stopped.
" The animal had found refuge with a lady who lived near the lighthouse in Porto Torres, a few steps from the port ," Emanuela says, "where she found food and played with the children. It was the woman who recognized her and contacted the owner, happy to have found her cat again."
