In Flumini di Quartu the carabinieri station reopens for the summer. The inauguration ceremony saw the participation of the municipal councilor with responsibility for Flumini and extra-urban territories, Tiziana Cogoni, who handed over the keys to Chief Marshal Stefano Pais, who will assume the delicate role of commander.
This garrison, inaugurated for the first time in the summer of 2002 and active continuously until 2022, is a seasonal department employed by the Quartu Carabinieri Company. It will be able to count on the presence of 7 soldiers, whose service will be dedicated, within 24 hours, to the Flumini area.
The initiative, strongly supported by the Carabinieri and made possible by the local administration, responds to the need for more widespread control of the extra-urban area of Quartu, which sees a significant increase in the population during the summer season. In fact, it is estimated that, with the arrival of tourists, it hosts almost one hundred thousand people, not counting those who travel on the busy road that connects Cagliari to Villasimius and the many who reach the numerous beaches in the area.
After a period of closure due to the inadequacy of the premises, the new Station Headquarters is back in operation thanks to important renovation works promoted by the Municipality.
The temporary command station of Flumini will remain active until September 10th and will be open to the public every day from 10am to 6pm.
