Casa Mascia, the Campidanese residence dating back to the 1800s at the crossroads of the passage of Sant'Efisio, will soon be renovated. The Municipality of Sarroch has assigned the restoration work on the old house which takes its name from its first owner, Efisio Mascia, to the Buccellato di Sestu company.
The building, which is located in the center of the town, has great historical and cultural value for Sarroch, given that for over two centuries, on the night of May 1st, it has housed the chariot of the Warrior Martyr before leaving the next morning to the vault of Pula.
Umberto Russo, councilor for public works, explains the urgency of the interventions: "To fix the building, in addition to the 230 thousand euro funding from the Metropolitan City that we have inherited, we have allocated a municipal contribution of another 100 thousand euro to secure the roof, since a part had collapsed. In addition to covering the old house, the works include the renovation of the facades: these are fundamental interventions, which will make it possible to redevelop a historic building of absolute value. The arrangement of Casa Mascia will give greater prestige to the multifunctional center for the elderly which will be built in the building next door: a project which will therefore allow the historic center of Sarroch to be redeveloped and, at the same time, bring it to life».
