A burglary occurred last night at the Quartu cemetery on Via Marconi . The thieves, who likely climbed over the fence in the new section of the cemetery, entered the cemetery, and after breaking down the door of a storage room, stole various cleaning and gardening equipment. The theft was discovered this morning by cemetery staff who had just arrived to open the gates. Thieves had previously entered the cemetery. Thefts of flowers and grave goods are also commonplace, often even being resold or placed in the graves of the thieves' relatives.

Meanwhile, the cemetery has begun a review of permits, necessary to free up space for new burials. All niches where the permit has expired have been marked with a red sticker. Relatives have three options: either renew the permit, for a maximum of 30 years, according to current rules, authorize the transfer to the ossuary, or place the remains in a niche for 99 years . This obviously does not apply to perpetual permits, which were issued some time ago.
