The man who, armed with a knife, “in the name of the Prophet” attacked a policeman in Cannes, France, landed in 2008 in Cagliari.

His name is Lakhdar Benrabah, he is a 37-year-old Algerian who has no criminal or police record and has a regular residence permit that allows him to move and work in all countries of the Schengen area.

This is what we learn from Italian investigative sources: the residence permit was issued to him by the Naples Police Headquarters in 2011 for work reasons and then converted in 2018 into an indefinite residence card.

When he landed on the island, the man had been photographed with different generalities.

The man hit the officer with a slash in the chest before being seriously injured by a colleague of the policeman.

The French authorities are evaluating the terrorist trail.
