Texas poker tournaments, classified as gambling, in the games room set up in the basement of one of the main shopping centers in Senorbì.
In just a few months, the venue has become a meeting point, especially at weekends, for a large number of players from all over Sardinia. Who crowded it not only for the slot machines and the bar area but above all for the poker tournaments widely advertised on social channels where large cash winnings, even thousands of euros, were promised. A movement that also attracted the attention of the Carabinieri of the Senorbì station , who, believing that gambling could also be played in the club, decided to go and check.
And in fact, during one of the tournaments scheduled on social media, the soldiers of the Carabinieri, together with the inspectors of the Monopolies and Customs Agency, showed up at the venue, finding 19 players, some of whom came from outside the province, and four " dealers”, one for each table, in the middle of a Texas Hold'em Poker tournament, the results of which, in real time, were projected on a monitor in plain sight.
The rules of the tournament were perfectly in line with the rules of gambling, providing for each player both the obligation to pay an entry fee and the possibility of further payments for "re-entry", i.e. to get back into the game.
At the end of the investigations, considering that Texan Poker is an activity included in the table of prohibited games of the Police Commissioner of the Province of Cagliari, the Senorbì Carabinieri have, among other things, reported the place to the Public Security Authority which immediately took action .
The Cagliari Police Commissioner therefore ordered the suspension of the activity and ordered, starting from today, the closure of the restaurant for 15 days.
