"What remains of the 'historic agreement' signed by Pigliaru and Pinotti: rubble."

The images published by Giacomo Manai, an anti-militarist activist from Teulada, speak for themselves. He immortalized the state of abandonment of the village (or what remains of it) that stands behind the (demolished) Army bathing establishment in Porto Tramatzu.

A stretch of beach that had been the subject of negotiations between the State and the Region , when Francesco Pigliaru was in charge of Viale Trento and Roberta Pinotti was in charge of the Ministry of Defense. It was decided to release the portion of beach that for decades had been reserved exclusively for military vacationers.

Shortly thereafter, the illegal structures that once stood on the beach were demolished. However, the bungalows and various structures of the village on the seaward side of the promontory remained standing. These structures could have been exploited to boost the area's tourism industry. Instead, they are falling to pieces: they are no longer used by the military, and are no longer used for civilian purposes. As is often the case with decommissioned defense assets.

"From 2018 to today, nothing has changed," Manai reflects disconsolately. "In a territory that needs hospitality and tourism facilities like arid land needs water, here we allow ourselves the 'luxury' of leaving that promontory abandoned to itself, a sad expanse of rubble. And why all this? So as not to 'disturb'?" he asks.
