Nurallao, the family doctor is leaving. The mayor: "The vacant position is a loss for everyone."

The Sanità Bene Comune (Common Good Health) Committee - Sarcidano Barbagia di Seulo expressed disappointment following the loss of yet another GP in the area. This time it was Nurallao's turn .

Dr. Enrica Murgia, whose term ended on August 7, formally communicated her resignation on June 16, but to date it appears that no professional is available to replace her.

"The crisis in primary care medicine is now well-known and widespread," said committee spokesperson Luigi Pisci, "but the shortage of doctors cannot become a permanent excuse, nor can it become a normal condition. We believe the methods and, above all, the timeframe with which the Authority and District have addressed the Nurallao situation are inadequate."

In fact, 50 days have passed between the doctor's communication and the actual day of her discharge. 800 patients are currently contacting the Emergency Medical Service at Isili Hospital, while respecting priorities.

"The loss of a GP," said Nurallao Mayor Rita Aida Porru, "is a defeat for everyone. We have until Friday, otherwise Ascot will be activated. Both I and the others are working to resolve the situation, but the response is always the same: they don't want to come to our area."

So, there are still a few more days to avert the worst, but the committee's questions remain, calling for planning, timeliness, and consultation with the local authorities.
