His name is Victor, a one-year-old German Shepherd. He and his handler have passed all the necessary tests: specially trained to detect narcotics, he will also participate in school activities. He is the newest addition to the Cagliari local police force.

Victor will be involved in targeted services: daily checks will be conducted in sensitive areas of the city, such as parks and gardens, youth gathering places, public transportation hubs, and the areas surrounding school buildings. He will also participate, with his handler, in legality education projects within schools to introduce young people to the work of the authorities and strengthen the relationship of trust with the public. "The establishment of the dog unit," explains Mayor Massimo Zedda, " represents a strategic investment and a further contribution to ensuring greater security and enforcement in the city. It will be an important deterrent and, at the same time, a valuable support for initiatives dedicated to legality and youth education."

Victor has also begun a program aimed at searching for people, which could also be of assistance to the Civil Protection Department: "The canine unit," emphasizes Local Police Commander Pierpaolo Marullo, "is fully available to other law enforcement agencies for any urgent deployments. The training was intense and has created an extraordinary bond of trust between Officer Emiliano and Victor the dog, who is now fully ready to operate in the city's service. This is a historic achievement for our Command."
