Salvatore Piga, the 34-year-old farmer from Ittiri , who had been hospitalized with a reserved prognosis in the intensive care unit of the Santissima Annunziata in Sassari, has died following the serious accident in which he was involved on Monday morning, on the day before August 15th.

The injuries sustained after the violent collision between his scooter and a truck in the Monte Untulzu area, along the Ittiri inter-municipal road, were too serious.

At 8.30 on 14 August, riding his Scarabeo, he would have invaded the opposite lane, crashing into a three-wheeler proceeding in the opposite direction. The head-on collision had been inevitable. Thrown to the ground, Salvatore Piga had suffered a serious thoracic-abdominal trauma. The medical care was not enough to save his life. The injuries sustained were too serious.

He died in the afternoon following the worsening of his health conditions. The young man from Ittiri was transported to the hospital aboard the ambulance and was intubated and hospitalized in intensive care.
