The misadventure of a 90-year-old man, missing since the evening of Thursday, November 27, in the Tergu countryside, ended with a happy ending.

The man, originally from Castelsardo, was rescued during the night between November 27th and 28th thanks to the timely intervention of the Carabinieri of the Valledoria Company and some hunters present in the area.

The alarm was raised late in the evening, when the man's family contacted the Valledoria operations center, concerned that he hadn't returned. The elderly man had gone, as usual, to the area known as "Hell Valley" to graze some cattle, but hadn't returned at the agreed-upon time and was unreachable by phone.

The Valledoria Mobile Radio Unit and the Sedini Station were immediately mobilized, reaching the area—known for its thick vegetation and complex topography—and launching a search despite the darkness.

Some local hunters also collaborated in the operation, whose knowledge of the territory proved invaluable.

After several hours of intense searching, the old man was located on a small rocky embankment, where he had become stranded, perhaps having lost his bearings due to the darkness and thick vegetation.

The rescue required the use of a rope, which allowed the military and hunters to bring the man back to safety.

Despite his exhaustion and intense fear, the 90-year-old was found to be in good general health and was immediately entrusted to his family.
