In Cagliari the hunt for a taxi (which cannot be found), especially in summer and at night, could soon be just a bad memory. At least that's what the Municipality hopes, as it has the resolution ready for the granting of 28 new licences , 10 of which are seasonal and to deal with the summer tourist flow .

The act could be discussed and approved already during the council meeting scheduled for Tuesday . The resolution for the increase in licenses is inspired by the law on "Urgent measures to address the shortcomings of the road taxi transport system". And it was also adopted by Palazzo Bacaredda also because the estimates for next summer foresee - from the data estimated by the Port Authority - around 177 landings in Cagliari, 75 more than in 2023 . And even low-cost airlines should bring tens of thousands of tourists to the Sardinian capital.

The taxi drivers' trade unions are already on a war footing . That if they confirm that "the new 18 licenses are necessary " they don't think the same about the ten seasonal licenses .

For this Tuesday morning - while awaiting approval from the Police Headquarters - they are planning a procession from the T-Hotel to Palazzo Bacaredda.
