An image that is worth a thousand words on the tragedy of heroin addicts in Sassari.

Not far from the train station, twelve syringes are stuck in the ground, one next to the other, as an unequivocal and shocking testimony to drug addiction.

The area is one of the most experienced by those who use the "stuff" in the city, a shadowy corner that is added to others concentrated between the center and the suburbs. Thus the heroin alarm returns, which culminated in the Turrian capital between January and March of this year with the death of three people from overdose and at least two who arrived in very critical conditions in the emergency room. An emergency that made us think of a badly cut match, unfortunately a common phenomenon in the world of drug addiction.

However, the danger does not remove consumers from the use of substances in Sassari and, sometimes, it does not even bring them close to treatment facilities such as the Serd. An omission denounced precisely on the Unione Sarda by the health director of Assl Vito La Spina : "At the service for pathological addictions, in addition to the therapeutic communities, there are a whole series of services, including psychological supports, to which drug addicts want to can access. Most of the time, however, they don't. But we must help them to help themselves ”.
