Full-scale investigations into the death of Ann Lauwers , the Tempio Prosecutor's Office, following a complaint from the woman's family , is verifying the hospital procedure , starting from the first admission to the Emergency Room of Paolo Dettori in Tempio . Ann Lauwers died after surgery , performed in the Gallura hospital, apparently due to a massive pulmonary embolism.
Prosecutor Mauro Lavra is reconstructing what happened from the first medical visits documented in the medical records. The swimming instructor (59 years old, resident in Valledoria) was seen for the first time in Tempio after an accident at work, a fall that caused a fracture of the tibia. Checks are underway to determine whether it is true that the woman was sent home the first time, despite the fracture of the tibia being displaced.
Subsequently, the patient, returned to the hospital, was operated on and after the operation, which was perfectly successful, she died. Attention is focused on the preparation phase of the surgical operation. The prosecutor has ordered an autopsy, no comment from the lawyers of the Lauwers family, Monica Liguori and Alessio Cerrutti.
