Crazy speeds detected, up to 218 km/h. Skyrocketing alcohol rates. An uninsured ambulance with the patient on board. And irregularities in the transport of live animals. A flurry of violations of the highway code emerged from the checks carried out in March by the Traffic Police on the main arteries of northern Sardinia: the Statale 291 Sassari/Alghero, the Statale 729 Sassari/Olbia and on the Carlo Felice.

In recent days in particular, the cases of a driver of a large displacement SUV immortalized at a speed of 218 km/h and of a driver of a small car going at a speed of 187 km/h have had particular resonance in speed control services. h.

Worthy of note are the cases of a girl sanctioned for driving while intoxicated because she was driving with a rate of over 2.40 g/l, almost 5 times higher than the permitted limit. The same level of drunkenness was detected during the afternoon among a driver traveling along the 131 Dcn.

Officers also discovered a truck overloaded with live animals, as well as another series of documentary irregularities. Consequence: fines of 800 euros and vehicle detention.

A further particular story concerns the driver of an ambulance who was transporting a patient to the Sassari hospital: he had no insurance.

In recent weeks the Sassari Traffic Police has contested 32 speeding violations and withdrawn over 32 driving licences, resulting in the suspension of the license for up to 12 months and an administrative fine of over 800 euros. Furthermore, 28 violations were reported for lack of insurance coverage and 12 for driving under the influence of alcohol.
