Cameras in the sensitive points of the island of Asinara, a revolutionary video surveillance system to guarantee security in the other half of the Porto Torres area. The "Environmental Territorial Coordination" (CTA), an operational technical structure between the Forestry and Environmental Supervision Corps and the Asinara National Park, is consolidated through an agreement developed and signed by the respective directors, Giovanni Tesei of the Inspectorate of Sassari and Vittorio Gazale.

The main novelty of this year is the operation of an innovative territorial video surveillance system that covers the entire island of Asinara, 24 hours a day, with the possibility of acquiring, archiving and remotely managing high resolution video images. The areas covered range from the area of Fornelli, Cala Reale, Trabuccato, Cala D'Olivae and Punta Scorno. The signed agreement also provides for field activity with the use of off-road vehicles and with a patrol boat and two water-jet dinghies, always in close collaboration between the two entities; moreover, since last year a new marine unit has been used for control and surveillance activities, even in particularly adverse weather conditions, a real oceanographic vessel with aerial and marine drones and the use of thermal imaging cameras to increase the effectiveness of night-time controls. The units are also used within an international project, Strong Sea Life, for the removal of fishing gear and other abandoned waste coordinated by Ispra and which sees the Park and the Forestry Corps as strategic partners.

The Forestry and Environmental Surveillance Corps is a technical body, with particularly qualified personnel, which performs judicial police functions aimed at protecting the natural environment, in close collaboration with the Park Authority.

Another collaborative action is linked to the recovery of wildlife in difficulty, with interventions in rescue operations and the transfer of injured animals to the La Reale facilities for marine species and Bonassai for terrestrial species, and finally their subsequent reintroduction into nature. A further activity carried out by the Forestry staff concerns the prevention and suppression of fires with the coordination of this activity on the Asinara island, for this purpose the structure is equipped with a specific off-road vehicle with a sophisticated fire-fighting module. For the directors of the Park and the Forestry Corps, Gazale and Tesei "the continuous meetings between the staff of the two bodies operating within the CTA structure and the progressive strengthening of video surveillance means and equipment are elements that highlight the will to improve more and more the monitoring service to protect the protected area of Asinara and its natural and historical heritage".
