For the third consecutive year on the beaches of Olbia it will be a smoke-free and plastic-free summer .

The mayor Settimo Nizzi has in fact renewed the ordinances n. 20 and n. 21 of 2019 to protect the health of citizens and, at the same time, the environment.

Therefore, it is forbidden to use containers and other disposable plastic products on beaches, archaeological sites, green areas, public parks and squares.

As for cigarettes, it will be forbidden to smoke and leave cigarette butts within 8 meters of the shoreline , on all beaches.

It will be possible to smoke only in areas equipped to accommodate smokers or, outside of these, only if in possession of a container suitable for collecting smoking waste, with an airtight seal, which prevents the dispersion of butts into the environment.

"It is the will of this administration - explains the mayor - to pursue the dissemination of good practices to protect health , specifically the fight against smoking and the prevention of the resulting diseases. Furthermore, it is undeniable that the dispersion of cigarette butts is perceived as an evident symptom of the deterioration of the environmental and urban fabric ". "By virtue of the tourist vocation of the area - continues Nizzi - in addition to the aspects related to the health of every citizen, we believe it is essential to combat the degenerative behaviors resulting from cigarette smoking that damage the right of each of our fellow citizens and tourists who have chosen our Common as a destination for their holidays, to enjoy the well-being offered by living and staying in a beautiful environment from a naturalistic point of view, decent and clean ".
