The body of Mariolina Seguri, the 81-year-old woman suffocated by her 81-year-old husband, Giovanni Secci, in the bedroom of their home at Via Boezio 28, Monserrato, has been transferred to the Institute of Forensic Medicine at Brotzu Hospital. Prosecutor Enrico Lussu has entrusted the examination of the body to coroner Roberto Demontis , who has already been assigned the task.
Meanwhile, the Carabinieri of the Quartu Company and the Monserrato Station are completing their investigations into the entire affair, also trying to establish the causes of the sudden outburst that led to the brutal crime.
Giovanni Secci grabbed a pillow, approached his wife, who was in bed, and suffocated her, leaving her no escape in the silence of the house. The couple's son was out at work. The killer himself reportedly called the Carabinieri: officers arrived immediately, finding the man in the house and the woman lifeless, likely only a short time earlier.
The investigation is being coordinated by Lieutenant Colonel Francesco Donvito, the new commander of the Operations Unit of the Cagliari Provincial Command, Captain Gianmarco Diadone, commander of the Quartu Company, and the military personnel of the Monserrato station and the Quartu Mobile Radio Operations Unit. Everything seems clear about the circumstances surrounding the murder. The motive, which appears to be linked to a family tragedy, remains unclear.
