The two bandits went into action at lunchtime, at the Suelli petrol station. They arrived at a Punto and while Francesca Porru, who manages the business, was about to close, she sensed the danger and ran away, leaving the car door open and her purse with the day's proceeds on the seat.

The victim of the coup is the daughter of the mayor of San Basilio, Albino Porru, a well-known administrator in the area.

The criminals' car was later found burned in the Senorbì countryside: it had been stolen a few days earlier, also in the Trexenta area.
