After two years, the great Carnival of Marrubiu returns to Marrulleri. Because of Covid, the thread with enthusiasts of floats and allegorical masks was interrupted, but with an economic effort, made possible by an amendment to the regional budget, the Municipality will be able to re-propose the great party with a gala dress. The big day will be Sunday, starting at 4pm: there will also be Radiolina's DJs to present and conduct the awards ceremony for the protagonists on the stage in Piazza Amsicora.
According to the organizers, about twenty thousand people from all over the island are expected on Sunday in Marrubiu for a Carnival which, in its forty-third edition, can now be defined as identifying itself . The mayor Luca Corrias is convinced of this: «It is one of the most relevant allegorical events in the regional panorama that the Municipality of Marrubiu organizes in collaboration with the Su Marrulleri association and the Pro Loco , with the support of the commercial and artisanal activities of the area and featuring the inspiration of the country's papier-mâché masters. After two years of hiatus, the streets of our urban center will welcome the highly anticipated allegorical floats from all over the island. Thousands and thousands of masks, extras and the public will parade through the streets of the town in safety thanks to a long-developed plan that sees the commitment of many professionals with the collaboration of barracella companies from all over the island. This is the edition that benefited from the largest contribution ever received from the Region to the Municipality of Marrubiu for the event with the amendment in the Finance Act promoted by the regional councilor Emanuele Cera. The growth of an identity demonstration like this represents a real pride for the country».
For the years 2023 and 2024, 50,000 euros are in fact foreseen to set up an imposing administrative machine: registrations are still open, but for now there are twenty floats and allegorical groups who have given their support. Paolo Soru, deputy mayor of the town, underlines the effort to ensure that everything goes in the right direction: «It will be a great edition that requires a great organizational machine which has more than 200 people involved in safety, coordination and management of the event. But it cannot be denied that the center of the event is the floats. I take this opportunity to publicly thank all the Groups that have contributed to the growth of this event for many years, managing to surprise us with some good news at each edition». To guarantee safety (a safety delegation has been assigned to the municipal councilor Mattia Tuveri) there will be 120 barracelli arriving from all over the island, the fire brigade, 30 workers with high fire risk qualifications, 6 ambulances, 3 doctors, a advanced health center in Piazza Gramsci. Tribunes will be set up in piazza Italia for those wishing to see the parade in comfort : «The show and entertainment will be guaranteed with the dj set in piazza Amsicora by Radiolina djs, there will also be the presentation of the floats in the station square it will also host two grandstands. Su Marrulleri will close with the awards ceremony in Piazza Amsicora thanks to a jury that this year will have experts in dance choreography, former tank crewmen and protagonists of the event, and the authorities present. The party will end in the Why Not disco for an evening of fun and goodbye A su Marrulleri 2024».
Marco D'Alessandro, president of the Su Marrulleri association closes: «We are ready to welcome all the groups of tankers, the true protagonists of the event with their works of art. There will be 20 floats and masked groups that will parade through the streets of Marrubiu. We are ready to joyfully welcome extras, spectators and families. The novelty for this year is MarrulleriLand, a space in the covered channel dedicated to families with refreshment points and entertainment for children». In short, all that remains is to wait for 4 pm on Sunday.
