To burn eucalyptus stubble, he unleashed a huge fire that incinerated 32 hectares, threatening homes and businesses.

Forestry rangers traced the identity of the person responsible for the fire that broke out last March 30 in the countryside of Arborea , in the localities of Pagu and Bonu: the first really critical one of the season.

The flames started around 12 and hit agricultural areas and a reforestation of eucalyptus. Shortly afterwards, as temperatures rose and the wind strengthened, the ashes reactivated and the fire spread to the surrounding area due to the lack of adequate insulation strips.

Only thanks to the timely intervention of two fire brigade teams, two patrols from the Marrubiu forest station and the helicopter from the Fenosu base, the damage was contained.

The extinguishing operations lasted until the afternoon and the teams who intervened ensured the reclamation and safety of the entire area.

An investigation was immediately launched to find out the causes. And it emerged, the Forestry and Environmental Surveillance Corps let us know, «that they are to be attributed to the negligence and inexperience of those who carried out the operations of burning eucalyptus branches on the day of the fire. In the following days, a detailed report was drawn up and forwarded to the judicial authorities»: the complaint was then triggered.
