She had just returned home when the argument started and her husband pounced on her, stabbing her with about ten stabs . This is how Ignazia Tumatis, 59, died , victim of the fury of her husband Luciano Hellies, 77, arrested on charges of voluntary homicide.
The clothing and knife used in the crime were seized .
According to what was reconstructed by the Flying Squad of the Cagliari Police Headquarters, relations between the two, who had been married for a long time, were no longer going well . There had been small discussions perhaps linked to the change in the relationship: they lived separately at home, and the victim often went out.
Last night too, the argument apparently started because the woman had returned home late , immediately after the end of Italy's match with Spain, around 11pm.
" He laughed in my face and I never saw him again ," the 77-year-old later said. And at that point he grabbed a large kitchen knife and hit his wife about ten times.
Then the man then called his daughters: "I killed her," he said .
The flying squad officers and 118 arrived immediately in via Pogdora. The police stopped the 77-year-old, he was at home, in a state of shock, his clothes were still stained with his wife's blood .
The 118 doctors attempted to resuscitate the woman, but there was nothing they could do.
The specialists of the flying squad then arrived on site, coordinated by the manager Emanuele Fattori, the forensic team, the prosecutor on duty Diana Lecca and the medical examiner.
The autopsy on the body of the woman by the medical examiner, Roberto Demontis, is scheduled for the afternoon .
