A boater wounded in the hand, a swimmer who had gone missing, canoeists in distress and a boat in distress.

It was a morning of overwork for the soldiers of the Cagliari Coast Guard, engaged in numerous interventions linked above all to the strong mistral wind which began to blow from the early hours of the day.

The first distress call came at 8, from the waters in front of Santa Margherita di Pula: an Italian on board his boat asked for help after suffering a bad wound in his hand. The Cp 320 patrol boat was immediately sent to the site, a unit specialized in search and rescue activities, with a "Rescue Swimmer" operator on board, a professional figure selected and trained to carry out the recovery of people in distress even in adverse marine weather conditions. The injured man was transferred to the port of Cagliari, where he was entrusted to the care of the 118 rescuers.

New alarm at 11.30 , when the report on the presumed disappearance of a seventy-year-old who had gone out for a swim off the Poetto and after two hours had not returned. To worry about a friend. Two fast boats were sent to the site, which fortunately did not have to proceed with the search activity: the elderly man had returned independently. Also during the morning and again at Poetto some canoeists were rescued who were unable to return due to the wind. The Coast Guard also went to help a damaged boat near Sella del Diavolo.

The command of Cagliari «remembers to lend maximum attention also in anticipation of the coming days of adverse weather conditions characterized by the presence of strong winds from the North West. In case of emergencies at sea it is possible to contact, both from a landline and mobile phone, the Blue Number 1530 and the Single European Emergency Number 112, active 24 hours a day to guarantee immediate interventions to protect the safety of human life at sea and, by radio, the Vhf channel 16".
