Tragedy struck the Buggerru sea on Saturday afternoon. A 70-year-old pensioner, a resident of the Milan area, drowned in the stormy sea off San Nicolò beach.

Paramedics and the air ambulance team responded to the scene. However, they were unable to revive the man. Witnesses reported that the victim had entered the water to help two children in distress near the shoreline, but was himself swept away and submerged by the force of the waves .

Some swimmers, anchored to safety ropes and using floating supports, reached him and brought him to shore. Unfortunately, there was nothing they could do .
