Mayor Oppus: "The worst damage in the countryside"
Dramatic situation in Mandas due to the violent downpour that flooded the countryside and made the roads connecting with the town impassable.
The situation in the Mandas-Villanovafranca was particularly serious, which was submerged by water, but great inconveniences also occurred in the Mandas-Gesico and in the other roads outside the town. The rural road network was almost swept away by the storm.
"The moment we are experiencing is really very delicate - says Mayor Umberto Oppus -, we still can't calculate the damage, but we know that the worst situation is in the countryside where agro-pastoral farms are isolated and submerged by water".
Just a few days ago, following the recent and interminable rainfall (the Mandas-Isili railway line was interrupted), the municipal administration had declared a state of natural disaster which was then notified by the Sardinia Region. The situation, with today's bad weather, has further worsened.
